Historic downtown St. Charles has beautiful Fox River views, cozy lunch and coffee spots, boutique shopping and two theaters. Here’s a few of our favorites! Town House Cafe: The perfect lunch cafe! Truly one of our all-time favorite spots. Everything on the menu is delicious and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It’s also attached to a boutique book shop so you can browse the books after lunch. Arcedium Coffeehouse: Locally roasted coffee and lots of seating! Pizzeria NEO: Authentic, wood-fired, Neapolitan pizza in a sleek, modern atmosphere. Two Wild Seeds Baking Company: A gluten-free bakery with lots of yummy options for when you need a sweet treat! Arcada Theatre: Historic theatre with throwback performances! Check arcadalive.com for upcoming shows.
Downtown Geneva is rich with history, great food, and fun shopping. Be sure to check out the riverwalk paths, too! Here are some of our favorite spots: Third Street: Too many places to list! This is where to go for some of the town’s best shopping and dining. Most of the businesses reside in charming, historic homes and it makes for a lovely afternoon stroll. Graham’s 318: The cutest coffee shop! Family owned and operated, pastries and gelato made in-house, and locally roasted coffee. Buttermilk: Buttermilk is a family favorite serving breakfast and lunch. Brightly lit, with a barn-style atmosphere, the specialty dishes never disappoint. Gia Mia: Delicious pasta and wood-fired pizza made from farm-to-table ingredients. A lively, modern trattoria. Graham’s Fine Chocolates & Ice Cream: A longtime family favorite! Owned by the same family as Graham’s 318; the homemade ice cream and chocolates are the perfect treat.
The trails along the Fox River are great for walking and riding bikes! There are also a few great parks along the way. Hop on the trails at any of the entrances along the river in St. Charles or Geneva.
The possibilities are endless in Chicago! If you’re looking to spend a day in the city, hop on the Metra or I-290. See our Travel page for more info on taking the Metra.
