It was a typical summer day in Memphis. Hot. Sweaty. And full of laughter, good friends, and good drinks. Caley and Beth were out shopping. Alex had just invited Davis over to hang out by the community pool and Caley and Beth decided that sounded way more fun than shopping so they decided to come home and join the boys by the pool. Caley and Davis had never met, but Beth assured Caley that she would love Davis. And in spite of his horrible mustache he adorned at the time, she was right. Caley and Davis had an instant connection. There was no awkwardness and there was an immediate bond. Caley and Davis clicked and talked about life, movies, music, everything you can imagine. The rest of the night, the four cooked and played games and the night was sealed with a kiss during a game of truth or dare. The kiss was inevitable but it ultimately sealed what we all already knew. That Caley and Davis were a perfect match. They have barely spent a day a part since.
Caley and Davis started the day with brunch at Venice Kitchen and then headed to their favorite watering hole, Brookhaven. They had a great day at brunch and continued the fun with friends at the bar. After the earlier fun was over, Davis and Caley eventually decided to go home before meeting Davis' parents for dinner. When the two got home, Davis told Caley that he loved her and got down on one knee and asked Caley the question. Caley was in shock. She asked Davis what the heck he was doing and if he was joking. He was not and Caley said yes. Here come the tears. Caley was ugly crying and phone calls were pouring out to friends and family to share the news. Everyone was excited and happy for the couple-to-be! Normally, Davis is a very planned person, however, several acts of God forced spontaneity. Family is important to the pair and Davis had planned to ask the big question at their house warming party scheduled for early January, with all in attendance. However, Caley got COVID and the party had to be rescheduled. Then, an ice storm hit Memphis during the week of the rescheduled party and plans had to change again. Davis had carried the ring in his pocket every weekend since the originally scheduled party and with the ice storm cancelling plans for a second time, Davis knew that the moment would have to be more or less spontaneous. After having such a great day together and with friends, he could not think of a more perfect day.
