Question

What can I expect at a Nuptial Mass?

Answer

A Catholic Wedding Mass combines the marriage ceremony with the holy sacrifice of the Mass. It's a sacred celebration where the couple receives a special blessing from God through the Church, asking for grace in their married life. The Mass typically lasts 45-60 minutes. Guests stand, sit, and kneel relatively often. Participation is optional for non-Catholics; simply observe reverently. Unless you are Catholic and in a proper state to receive (not in a state of grave sin and have properly fasted), the church asks that you refrain from receiving communion. The bride and groom look forward to celebrating with you!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

In the Catholic faith, the pinnacle of our worship towards the Lord takes place at the holy sacrifice of the Mass. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that “the Eucharist is the summit of the churches life” (1407). This is one the most amazing parts of a Catholic wedding, is that the bride and groom get to experience and share the pinnacle of their faith in the same mass they make their vows to each other. To maintain proper severance to the mass, the bride and groom kindly ask that guests attending ensure appropriate mass attire. For men, this would mean long pants, a collared shirt, and no hat. For women, long skirts, dresses, or pants would be best!
