I randomly planned a sunset date for us. Caleb knew nothing about where we were going, so him proposing was the last thing I expected (even more so on a date I had planned). It wasn’t a very elaborately planned date on my part. Thankfully, Caleb had thought of dinner because my date plans included sunset and that was as far as I had made it. He had packed us up a nice picnic [engagement mac n cheese y’all]. I didn’t think anything of it except he’d realized I had made no dinner plans. We drove out to the Parkway to the top of the mountain. Caleb grilled for us there on the mountain, I took pictures of the sunset and candid pictures of our date, we picnicked, laughed at weird things happening around us, and once it was dark we star gazed. I have no words to really do these moments justice because they really were perfect. I was sitting on the mountain, listening to music, talking and laughing with my best friend – it could not have been better, or so I thought. I had asked Caleb to take a silhouette picture with me and he said we could before we left. You can control my camera from my phone remotely, so we propped it up on his car and he entertained my crazy love for pictures (luckily him knowing me well helped his proposal work out). We had taken a few, none really great, and he suggested we take a few more. Somewhere in the next few moments he hugged me and said, “Can I keep you forever?” We say this to each other every now and then so I (of course, per usual) said yes. He immediately responded “good” as he started to get down on one knee. ***Okay so side note, I really thought he was messing with me so this is somewhat how the scene unfolded… Me: Are you joking?! Is there a ring in that box?! Him: I’m not joking… Will you marry me? Me: YEAH DUH! So basically, Caleb hi-jacked my date, made it ten times better, and then asked me to be his forever human making literally everything 483247238472 times better.
