As if our mutual love of cats was not apparent enough, our first date happened at a bar in downtown Minneapolis conveniently named "HopCat." We chatted into the night about a variety of topics that included sports, politics, education, and...cats! It was only one date down, but it was obvious right away that this Tinder story was a success. A getaway to Grand Marais, Minnesota occurred roughly two months into the relationship. This mini-vacation solidified both Caleb and Tanner's mutual love for the north shore as well as mutual feelings for each other. It also started a fierce mini-golf rivalry between the new couple. A "staycation" in downtown Minneapolis during the 2018 holidays was the special moment when we said, “I love you” to each other for the very first time. During spring break of 2019, we spent a week together in West Hollywood. The highlight of the trip was visiting all the bars and restaurants from one of our favorite television shows, Vanderpump Rules. Nine months into the relationship, we spent a long weekend with friends on the north shore. It was then that we both seperately confessed to some of our closest friends that we could easily see ourselves getting married. The two of us had no idea the other person had discussed those things in detail. We combined our cat families and moved in together a little before our one year dating anniversary. Tanner was starting a new journey in local politics. Caleb was getting ready to start teaching at a new school district. It was the Sunday before Labor Day. We were on the rooftop patio of Britt’s Pub in Minneapolis. Caleb asked Tanner to marry him. Tanner was expecting the proposal. The two of us have never been more sure about anything.
