The couple first met in 2015 when Caleb tried out for the ski/snowboard club Sarah was already a part of at the University of Washington. She thought he was an excellent yet kooky skier, and the two never really interacted much. A similar love for skiing and the mountains is strongly attributed to their spark <3
Caleb and Sarah became good friends their final year at UW. Sarah was the President of Husky Winter Sports, and Caleb was the Vice President. This meant lots of problem solving and long nights spent together working hard. During this time, Sarah and Caleb worked together well, and with the threat of Sarah leaving Washington after graduation, Caleb made the relationship official.
Shortly after coupling up, Caleb invited Sarah on a monthlong road trip with his two buddies from Bellingham, WA, to Ensanada, Mexico and back in the camper Caleb had just built for his truck. This iconic camper, pictured below, has become a symbol of our time together, with many wonderful and no-so-wonderful, memories taking place, for a very low price, due to Caleb's homemade mobile housing.
Before embracing the cold winters of Big Sky, Montana, Caleb and Sarah spent a month on the island of Hawaii, living on a Workaway property. During this time, they snorkeled with sea turtles, summitted Mauna Loa, and spent three amazing nights backpacking in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park with two new friends from Switzerland. Seasonal work does have its perks :)
Caleb proposed to Sarah while on a backpacking trip to Hollow Top Lake in the Tobacco Root range of southwest Montana. Popping the question early in the trip, the couple got to enjoy two full days together before returning to cell service. The time alone in the woods to celebrate together was full of love and joy.
Caleb and Sarah now live in Bozeman, MT. Caleb is a PhD student at Montana State University where he is studying wheat genetics. After working at Big Sky Resort for over three years, Sarah decided that driving Hwy 191 everyday was not how she wanted to spend her time. She now works as an Accessibility Specialist in the Office of Disability Services at Montana State University and is pursuing a Masters in Public Administration from MSU (heck yeah tuition waivers!)
