Caleb and Sara both spent 4 years on the same campus and the same football field at the University of Arkansas. Caleb worked on the equipment team for the football team, and Sara was on the Razorback Dance Team. Although they probably crossed paths many times throughout college, it actually wasn't until after college that they eventually met. Caleb saw one of Sara's posts on Instagram where she announced that she accepted a teaching job for Keller ISD, specifically the exact school that his little sister was starting 7th grade at! This sparked some interest in Caleb, so he spent the next 6 weeks crafting the "perfect dm" to send her. Once he finally gained the confidence to click send, Sara responded within minutes and said yes! Caleb and Sara ended up going on their first date on July 2, 2022 at the Kindred Coffee shop in North Richland Hills. They sat and talked non-stop over coffee for over 3 hours, learning about all of the things they had in common. A special memory from the first date is when an older man briefly came in to their conversation and said, "I just love seeing a young couple together talking face to face, not on their phones or anything and just enjoying each other's company." They were a little embarrassed at first, because it was only their first date, but that is now such a special moment that they love to look back on. After 3 hours at the coffee shop, they both decided that they weren't ready for the date to end, so they quickly went home to change then met back up to continue their date at the Stockyards in Fort Worth! Caleb and Sara's relationship continued to grow over the next few years. Caleb eventually moved to Frisco so he could teach and coach over there, while Sara stayed in Keller. With the crazy schedules of teachers/coaches plus the new commute to see each other, that limited their time to see each other throughout the week. But they took every chance they could get to spend every minute together on the weekends and on breaks, and they always kept that old man from the coffee shop in the back of their minds reminding them to enjoy each other's company!
On September 21, 2024, Caleb planned the most beautiful and perfect proposal with the help from some family and friends. That day will forever be remembered by Caleb and Sara as one of the best days of their lives! Unfortunately, about a week and a half after the proposal Caleb was playing in a softball game with a group of friends and he ended up injuring his ankle very badly after making an incredible catch. In other words, he was "playing too hard" as Caleb likes to say. Sara met Caleb at the hospital that night and he went into surgery that next morning. Ever since the incident, Caleb has endured 2 surgeries, countless hospital and doctor visits, physical therapy sessions, and a rare bone infection that he is currently treating through IV antibiotics at home. Caleb still has to undergo another surgery in April where he has to get an ankle fusion. With all of this happening, Caleb and Sara contemplated pushing the wedding back a year due to the unknown of what the future will hold for his recovery. After many conversations and prayers, they decided to keep their wedding date the same. After months and months of emotions, heartbreaking news, and pain, Caleb and Sara decided that the moment they say “I do” will feel like the greatest victory of all time which is what they need now more than ever! This whole crazy situation set up Caleb and Sara for a very "unique" engagement from the very start. Although the events have been very unfortunate and extremely hard, it has still made Caleb and Sara so much stronger as a couple. They've grown their relationship with each other, with their families, and most importantly it's grown their relationship with God. Caleb and Sara would have had a much harder time throughout all of this if it weren’t for all of their family and friends. The amount of support, encouragement, and prayer has truly been overwhelming and they want to thank every single person from the bottom of their hearts and they can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on July 11, 2025!
