Caleb and Rachel met through church back in 2013. They instantly became great friends and over the course of 5 years they grew closer and closer. Despite the distance that school and life would bring, they would always remain intentional about keeping up with each other and staying in touch regularly. In December of 2018, they individually realized more and more that they had feelings for one another. On the 26th of that same month, Caleb finally told Rachel he had feelings for her and to his surprise she said she felt the same! The first 5 months of their relationship had to be done long distance, but was incredibly worth it to each of them. The distance ended with a week long road trip to bring Rachel from South Carolina all the way back home to Santa Cruz where the two could finally date in person. On August 28th, Rachel’s 25th birthday, Caleb surprised her with a picnic out on the cliffs of Davenport where the two of them had originally had their first date. Caleb had dessert prepared, sang her a song that he had written for her, and gave her a photo album he had made of their relationship thus far. It was then that he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. The two could hardly contain their excitement as they both knew they were going to be marrying their best friend.
