On April 25th, 2024, in the basement of a Latin bar called Club Viva, two worlds collided on the dance floor. Four weeks later (thankfully Erika is a planner), they had their first date. By July 5th—on Erika’s very first camping trip—they made it official along the Eleven Point River. Their “honeymoon phase” didn’t last long before real life stepped in. Caleb was preparing to transfer his physical therapy license to move to Australia, while Erika—ironically—was already working with Purina’s supply chain team in Sydney. In October, they traveled down under together: Caleb passed his clinical exam, Erika met her Australian colleagues face-to-face, and the two explored Australia like locals. Caleb postponed his big move to Australia to allow more time for their relationship to strengthen and develop. Other logistics such as Erika's English Bulldog, Ella, and homeownership also required consideration. By January 15th, 2025, everything changed—Erika told Caleb she was pregnant! With a fast-tracked future ahead, Caleb lined up job offers abroad, sold his car, packed all his things, and booked a one-way ticket for February 18th. On the eve of his move, the coldest day of the year, Caleb took Erika back to Forest Park—the site of their first date—got down on one knee, and said: “I need you in Australia with me.” She said yes. The next day while awaiting his transpacific flight in the Dallas airport, Caleb realized his heart wasn’t on another continent—it was with Erika. He retrieved his checked bags and flew back home the next morning. From there, life sped up: they settled into Erika’s home, bought matching Toyota Rav4s, brought home Bruno the Vizsla puppy, and shifted their focus to baby Mila. On June 4th, 2025, they said "I do" at the Clayton courthouse, and a month later, traveled to Erika’s hometown of Quito, Ecuador to celebrate their marriage with her family. Finally, on September 17th at 11:36am, baby Mila made her debut, completing their new family of five. Today, Caleb and Erika are learning how to fold strollers, chasing adventure in their day to day activities, and living their own real-life Hallmark movie.
