Caleb and Ambar met in 2018 in their freshman year leadership class at UNCW. Shortly after the first week of classes, they found out they lived in the same dorm building, in the same hallway, and had three classes together. Before long, the couple was in the same friend group and Caleb became Ambar's official taxi ride to church events. As their friendship developed, they were surprised to find out that they had shared interests. They began attending Ratio Christi, an on-campus Christian apologetics group. Through this group, they both found answers to their questions about the Christian faith. Their friendship grew during this time, as they both grew in relationship with the Lord. All of the flirting began in their biology class. They learned little about science, but a lot about how to frustrate their professor with side chatter. They soon went on their first unofficial date to Applebee's, as "friends" who were "just there to get free food from a gift card". After this "friend date" (which was Caleb's way of testing the waters), he asked Ambar out on a real date. They dressed up and went to Little Dipper Fondue in downtown Wilmington. Now, they're engaged!
After Caleb picked the proposal date, he enlisted the help of some friends. Ambar's roommate, Jenna, convinced Ambar to dress up and head to the beach for a "roommate photo shoot". As they were getting dressed up and ready, Caleb set up strands of lights at Oceanic Pier, where the couple would often meet to go surfing. Attached to the lights were photos of the couple's adentures with notes written on the back of each photo. When Ambar pulled onto the beach with Jenna, they had their friend Samantha begin their "roommate photo shoot" session. Caleb crashed in on their phots, and asked to take a walk with Ambar. He led her to the pier, where he showed her all the photos of their time together. He proposed to her on the sand with the lights and memories in the background. The answer was an incredibly excited, "Yes!".
