The day: February 13th 2024. Place: Grinnell College—the HSSC academic building, Room S2327. Time: 7:58ish pm. Outside conditions: 45 degrees Fahrenheit, probably super windy because Iowa. Alyvia had already taken her seat in the room reserved for the on-campus Bible study. Caleb had no idea he was about to meet his future wife. This was the moment when Caleb and Alyvia first met one another face to face. The next Saturday, they went on their first date—promptly followed by a second date. Communication, patience, and placing God at the center of the relationship helped them through the months of the long- and mid-distance relationship that followed.
