Champions Sports Saloon
Where Cody and I met! This local, dive bar is tucked away in the Downtown Gilbert district. TONS of great food (we recommend Postinos, Joyride, and Culinary Dropout), cute shops, and of course a few great bars. Grab some lunch and then walk over to Champions for a few super cheap drinks -- don't forget, it is a dive bar!
SanTan Village
This mall has plenty of stores, is closer to the Gilbert area, and is an outside, walkable mall. Perfect for our weather in January!
Chandler Scheels Career Center
Brand new to Arizona! Our Illinois people might recognize this -- it's Bass Pro Shops on steroids. Great place to walk around for an hour or so (bowling, ferris wheel, etc. INSIDE). It's also attached to the Chandler Mall in case you forgot to pack anything or wanted to shop!
Usery Mountain Regional Park
The perfect hike to kick off the weekend! The Wind Cave hike is a 3.0-mile out-and-back trail near Mesa, Arizona. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 1 h 58 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, running, and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring.
Scottsdale Fashion Square
This mall has EVERYTHING. If you need something last minute, or just want to walk around and shop, this place IS IT. There is also tons of delicious restaurants around here -- great for a partial day activity.
Desert Botanical Garden
Perfect half day outing -- witness all the beautiful sights of the Arizona desert!
Phoenix Zoo
If you're bringing little ones in town, this is a perfect half day trip! The January weather is prime for most of the animals to be out and active.
Sedona
The gorgeous, Arizona red rocks! This place has amazing hiking, great local restaurants, and in general is just a beautiful place to explore. If you have a car and a full day, Sedona in the place to be!
