Guests are kindly asked to arrange their own transportation to the chapel. After the ceremony, a shuttle bus will run between St. Luke’s and the Historic Rice Mill (about one mile away), making multiple trips to ensure everyone gets to the reception comfortably. At the end of the evening, please plan your own transportation home from the reception.
Public street parking is available near St. Luke’s, but please keep in mind that finding a spot in downtown Charleston on a Friday evening can be a challenge. We strongly recommend taking an Uber or Lyft to the chapel for ease. The Historic Rice Mill does have a paid parking lot available for guests attending the reception.
We’ll be serving a variety of hearty hors d’oeuvres throughout the reception, along with several food stations to enjoy. Guests are welcome to eat whenever they’re hungry, there won’t be a formal seated dinner, so feel free to mingle, graze, and savor at your own pace.
We kindly ask that all guests refrain from using phones or taking photos during the ceremony. We have a professional photographer capturing every moment, and we’ll share those photos with you afterward. Please join us in being fully present, live in the moment, honor the setting, and enjoy the celebration with us.
This will be an adults‑only celebration.
Invitations are addressed specifically to the guests we’re able to include. If your invitation does not list a plus‑one, then we kindly ask that you attend solo.
This will be a formal evening event. Please dress in elegant attire; suits and ties, cocktail dresses, or evening gowns are perfect for the occasion.
Guests are welcome to choose the accommodations that best fit their style and budget. Downtown Charleston offers plenty of beautiful luxury hotels, while there are more affordable options near MUSC. Just over the bridge in Mount Pleasant, you’ll find some lovely spots as well. If you’re traveling with friends, consider one of Charleston’s historic Airbnbs or charming bed & breakfasts for a unique experience. For room block information, please visit the travel tab.
Charleston is best explored at a slow pace. Whether you want to stay on the cobblestones or head to the coast, here is how to see the city: The Battery & White Point Garden: Stroll along the waterfront to see historic antebellum mansions and views of the harbor. Rainbow Row: The iconic stretch of pastel-colored homes on East Bay Street. Charleston City Market: A historic four-block market featuring local vendors and world-famous Gullah sweetgrass baskets. Historic Walking Tours: We highly recommend a guided tour through the hidden gardens to truly appreciate the city’s history. Fort Sumter: For history buffs, take the ferry out to the spot where the Civil War began. A Day at the Beach: * Sullivan’s Island: Quaint, upscale, and quiet. Great for a sophisticated beach day. Folly Beach: Known as the "Edge of America." It’s funky, laid-back, and perfect if you want a lively, classic beach town vibe.
The food scene here is world-class, so we recommend making reservations on Resy or OpenTable as early as possible! Sorelle: One of our favorites for incredible Italian. You must try the "Pillows of Gold" (ricotta tortelloni). It’s also a great spot for morning coffee and sandwiches. Husk: Renowned for elevated Southern cuisine, located in a beautiful historic home. 167 Raw: A cozy, high-energy spot for fresh oysters and the best lobster rolls in town. Delaney Oyster House: A chic seafood spot in a quintessential old Charleston house. It has a great vibe and amazing fresh catches. Leon’s Oyster Shop: Fried chicken, oysters, and a laid-back vibe in a converted garage. Babas on Cannon: A super popular spot for quick bites and high-end coffee. The Obstinate Daughter (Sullivan’s): Mediterranean-Southern fusion that is always a hit. Don’t forget to visit Beardcat’s Sweet Shop underneath for gelato! Poe’s Tavern (Sullivan’s): A tribute to Edgar Allan Poe. Folly Beach Favorites: Check out Taco Boy for margaritas, Pinky’s for retro vibes, or Loggerhead’s and Rita’s for classic beachy outdoor dining.
We have spent many late evenings at Prohibition and The Dispensary, and we can't recommend them enough. If you want to get near the water, head to Shem Creek, it’s one of our favorite spots. Grab a drink and some seafood queso at Red’s Ice House while watching the shrimp boats come in. Other great options include: The Brewery Trail: * Revelry Brewing Co: Best rooftop sunset views downtown (plus great sushi!). Edmund’s Oast: Massive outdoor patio with a huge tap list and great pizza. Holy City Brewing: Located right on the marsh with plenty of outdoor space. The Cocktail Club: A rooftop spot with a sophisticated, speakeasy feel. The Gin Joint: Intimate and creative handcrafted cocktails. The Commodore: Go here for live jazz, a retro vibe, and plenty of dancing. Home Team BBQ: You have to try a Gamechanger.
