Caitlyn and Zach first met in the spring of their freshman year where they both attended University of South Carolina. They met at the beloved local downtown bar that has since closed down called Pavlov's, known to many as the "classiest dive bar in America." They immediately hit it off and became fast friends, spending time at tailgates rooting on the Gamecocks, or at their favorite BBQ spot, Palmetto Pig, or walking along the boardwalk at Congaree National Park. After they started dating in November, they'll tell you that one of their favorite memories was driving across the country from San Diego, CA to Columbia, SC. To this day they love to recount this journey and how it truly solidified their bond in their relationship. Fast forward to graduation from USC in December 2020, Caitlyn and Zach took the leap and moved up to Washington DC together. They spent three years in Arlington, VA where Caitlyn worked as a dermatology medical assistant before attending physician assistant (PA) school and Zach worked for a campaign committee before his current gig on Capitol Hill in communications. They also made an important addition to the family by adopting their amazing dog Lychee who truly changed their lives. When Caitlyn graduated PA school, Zach had a whole story played out that their trip to St. Augustine was his graduation gift to Caitlyn to celebrate her accomplishments. On the second night of the trip, Zach had secretly been coordinating with Caitlyn's maid of honor and best friend Caitlin (who was also her freshman year roommate). Caitlin and her fiance were en route to set up for Zach to propose in the backyard of our Airbnb. When they arrived back from dinner, Zach held Caitlyn's hand and walked her out to the backyard where he asked her to marry him surrounded by beautiful photos of them sharing memories from their 5+ years together. Since being engaged, there has been a lot of excitement in their lives! They moved over to Capitol Hill to be closer to their jobs. Caitlyn started working as a PA in ENT and Zach continues to excel in his job in the Senate. There are lots of fun things planned for 2025 that will help distract them from all the wedding planning, but they know that September 21 will be the most magical day and they look forward to that most! From the bottom of our hearts, we are so excited to share our day with all the people we love who have all, in some way or another, been a part of our love story. We wouldn't be where we are without the love and support of y'all. We cannot wait to celebrate our love with everyone!
