Wyatt and Caitlyn's love story began in the 6th grade, in an Arts & Communication class that would unknowingly spark a lifelong connection. They became inseparable friends, despite Wyatt's initial rejection of Caitlyn’s middle school crush, citing different friend groups as his excuse. Ironically, they shared the same friends throughout high school—fate has its quirks. By junior year, Caitlyn confessed her love for Wyatt in the most unforgettable setting—a high school parking lot, in Wyatt’s trusty old Cobalt. Although it looked like he might faint, Caitlyn chose to keep things platonic, wary of high school romance drama. Their yearbook even featured them in the “friend zone” section, a humorous nod to their unique bond. Caitlyn secretly knew she would be able to laugh with their children about this down the road. They found themselves frequently having to explain to friends and family that they were "just friends" who loved each other, but weren't interested in more. They were constantly fielding puzzled looks, and poor Wyatt was just as puzzled at times. Caitlyn and Wyatt finally made their relationship official, prior to an actual graduation (thanks COVID) and never looked back. On their first anniversary, Wyatt surprised Caitlyn with a weekend getaway to a charming tiny house in Freeport, surrounded by 60 acres of woods. It was there he gave her a promise ring, symbolizing his commitment to their future. Fast forward nearly three years, Wyatt took Caitlyn back to that same tiny house. This time, he fulfilled his promise, proposing amidst the beautiful scenery. And just like that, Caitlyn was upgraded from girlfriend to fiancée, with a new ring and a lifetime of love ahead.
