Anna and Caitlyn met in the middle of the pandemic. Anna messaged first - it was six paragraphs all about narwhals. Of course, Caitlyn was charmed and messaged back. They became fast friends and agreed to meet up in Forest Park. It was June and neither of them brought a water bottle, but they liked each other so much that they walked the entire five-mile loop anyway. Anna didn't want the date to end, Caitlyn suggested milkshakes, and now, five years later, they're still on their first date.
Caitlyn proposed to Anna a day before their fifth anniversary, in the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Both sets of parents, a photo album, a surprise photographer, and a crocheted narwhal were involved. Caitlyn learned to crochet for this singular purpose. Anna proposed back to Caitlyn on a picnic with a deep dish pizza and a fortune cookie. She'd removed and replaced the original message using tweezers. Don't ask her how many cookies it took.
