Welcome & Wedding Update

We have had a crazy year! We are excited that Love isn't cancelled, but unfortunately had some changes to our wedding due to COVID-19. Please refer to the FAQs for details on when a wedding will look like. The highlights include a 90% outdoor wedding (weather pending) with somewhere between 70-100 people. We are thankful for everyone's health to date, and understand each person's concerns. As always, please contact us with any questions! Love Mitch and Caitlyn

Where it all began...

Mitch and Caitlyn first met in June of 2011 at Freshman Orientation for Bryant University. Mitch remembers immediately thinking what an amazing smile she has and Caitlyn remembers how she really liked his name. Once the school year was kicked off Caitlyn found the perfect opening to reach Mitch, math. She messaged him on Facebook and asked him questions about the expensive math textbook they needed for class. They spent the evening chatting about their lives and getting to know one another ending with him asking for her number.

Getting to know each other...

Sophomore year fate provided a helping hand when they were assigned dorm rooms across the hall from one another. That same year they went on a school trip to China together for two weeks. They shared many adventures in China, from visiting the Great Wall of China to the Big Buddha in Hong Kong. Caitlyn reflected on the small moments they shared together on that trip. From playing drinking games in the hotel room, where Mitch was leading the pack of course, to dancing the night away at the club. Once they got back to school they continued to spend time together. Then one night Mitch worked up the courage and asked Caitlyn to go on a date with him. Their first date was on Valentines Day and they found themselves at a cute Italian restaurant in Providence. The ice broke that night when she mispronounced gnocchi and the waiter corrected her, Mitch laughed and they continued to joke about it all night. Then in a romantic moment Mitch remembered Caitlyn liked caprese and surprised her by order it for them to share. She still says the gesture melted her heart.

Their first bumps in the road...

Caitlyn showed her strength when she came to Connecticut for Mitch’s father’s funeral only a few weeks after their first date. Caitlyn was so strong meeting Mitch’s family for the first time and being there to support him when he needed her most. He knew she was special and they officially began their relationship on March 4th 2013. Their first big relationship test occurred six months later when Mitch spent the first half of junior year in Spain. Caitlyn remembers one day when she was upset and had not talked to Mitch in a few days, she was worried that they were not going to survive the distance. Then all of a sudden she got pictures from him. He was in Paris for the weekend and had taken a trip to the lock bridge. He bought a lock wrote their initials on it and locked it to the bridge, tossing the key in the water. When Caitlyn got the pictures and he told her what he did she burst into tears that even though they were not talking much that week he was so in love with her that he went out of the way to do this for them. She knew at that moment that they were serious and could not only make it through this short term separation but were meant to be together. Caitlyn also got to visit Mitch in Spain that year for Thanksgiving break. They spent the week exploring the area, trying the food and drinks, dancing and visiting amazing historical landmarks.

Strengthening their relationship...

Over the next two years they made life long memories at college together. Always the jokester Mitch made sure he had a good April Fools day prank ready for her each year. One year he collected a ton of plastic shopping bags and wrapped all of her stuff in individual bags, and another year he convinced her he was expelled from school. They did find time for some romantic moments as well. Mitch remembers Valentines Day senior year when everyone else was out and they stayed in and made chicken parm and chocolate covered strawberries together. After graduating college they both found themselves working in insurance in Hartford. Mitch moved back home for a short spell before getting an apartment with a friend and Caitlyn shared a condo with a friend from college. They spent the next two years exploring Hartford together and getting to know each other’s family and friends. They then decided that they were ready for the next step, to move in together shop for a house. They both described house hunting as extremely stressful but also extremely bonding, at this point they were starting to plan their life together.

Becoming a family...

After looking at many many homes they found their perfect home in Windsor, CT. Mitch was not a fan of moving or how much stuff Caitlyn had and swore next time they were getting movers. They learned to love living together, having someone to share the household chores with and someone to tell about your day. But they knew they had room in the house for one more and started looking for a dog to adopt. Caitlyn woke Mitch up one Saturday at 8am and said she found the perfect dog and they needed to go check him out right away. So they drove all the way Danbury to met the dog and immediately fell in love with him. They named their 20-pound puggle Bigs and he moved in with them and added even more fun and laughter to the house. From sleeping in his mountain of blankets, to freaking out every time Caitlyn leaves and most of all when he decided to jump in the hot tub with them one night.

She said yes!

After six years of dating Mitch knew he was ready to propose. Caitlyn had just finished her master’s degree so they had a picnic at their house to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and her accomplishment. After they ate Caitlyn handed out champagne to their family and friends because Mitch told her he wanted to do a toast to celebrate her master’s degree. Mitch started to give a toast congratulating her on all she had accomplished and then he said that since they had bought the house he had gotten pretty good at fixing things and there was one thing that still needed to be fixed. He dropped to one knee in front of their loved ones and asked Caitlyn if she would marry him. When asked how she felt at that moment Caitlyn said she was so excited and just felt this overwhelming love. Now they wish to continue their love story by getting married at Heritage Hotel and would love for you to be there to celebrate the moment with them.

For all the days along the way
