We met at church. I had been asked to sing with a worship team on Tuesdays from 12pm to 2pm. I was apprehensive as I have always been really insecure and shy about my voice, but I was doing my best to push through my self-consciousness. His mom just so happen to be leading that Tuesday worship team. She had me come on a worship team on a Monday night to help me get situated in a more relaxed environment. He was playing the electric guitar that Monday. I was very new to stage setups and anything else to do with musical performance, so she asked him to help me get set up at my station. I thought he was cute and I was so nervous. The whole time I was thinking to myself "PAY ATTENTION PAY ATTENTION PAY ATTENTION." After the set he complimented my singing voice. He called it beautiful and told me I should be louder because my voice was amazing. He was the first guy to ever compliment my voice like that. Little did he know how much that meant to me.

I had been a regular singer on many worship sets at this point. We'd seen each other a few times when we's be on the same sets, but we were both far too shy to actually speak to each other. Then one day, his family was going to pick up a bathtub from a friends house after a set and had asked for some extra help from us. I, having nothing else to do (and also wanting to spend more time with him and his family who I had grown quite fond of), decide to tag along. My help was not needed at all in the end, but his mom decided to take us all out to Waffle House anyways as a "thank you". At the Waffle House, I was at first just sitting and making conversation with his mom and her husband, and probably about halfway through he joined our table and hopped in on the conversation. We ended up bonding over the many similarities we had in personality and interests, and we just seemed to click. As I was sabot to leave after all the fun, he walked over and gave me the sweetest hug I'd ever received from a man. I felt so giddy. Still, we had yet to find the confidence to really start pursuing each other.

There was a weekly Saturday night set that his mom leads that she could not attend one week because she would be out of town. So, she had asked another musician to lead for her. The only problem was that she would not be able to drive him and his brother to the church for this set. Me, still wanting to spend as much time with them as I could, offered to be their transportation while she was away. So it was decided the set would go on and I would be there to take London and his brother to and from the church that night. Needless to say, I was excited. Not only would I be able to see him at a normal set, but I also would be able to spend two whole car rides with him. This would be the perfect opportunity to share music taste and have more get-to-know-you type conversations. The day of the set comes around, and I text London and his brother to let them know what tine I would be arriving to get them. Lo and behold, the leader had to cancel because she got sick! I was so upset. I had been so excited to get to spend time with the two of them and it seemed as if all that was going away. To my great fortune, the three of us were asked to cover the set on our own! So not only did I get to spend some quality time with them in the car, but I also got to make music with them in a much more intimate setting. After our set (which wen't really well by the way) I got to hang out with the two of them in the church briefing room for awhile, where London and I continued to bond over music. By the time I was dropping him off back at home he was telling me to text him my schedule so we could find a time to get together and make music (which did happen not even a week later).
