Our story is a perfect picture of modern dating - we found love on Bumble! Now, for the details: I had been on some type of online dating app since my freshman year of college (I was a senior when we met), and had my share of dates that never blossomed into anything special. Around the time we met (March 2019), I had pretty much given up on dating for the time being. I still kept the apps on my phone though because when I was bored I’d swipe through to pass time. On March 13th, I was at an LSU baseball game doing just that when I came across Joey’s profile. I swiped right because he was cute AND he had a cute dog in a rain coat. He still to this day will tell you Beau is his best wingman 😂. I messaged him and we made plans to walk around the LSU lakes. We didn’t actually meet until March 19th, and the reason for that, well that depends on who you ask. My version is that I was busy with school, and his version is that I avoided him, so you can decide which version to go with 😂. It’s worth mentioning that I had a horrible day at work that day, and considered cancelling. I decided to go though because even though our conversions had been minimal up to this point, I could tell he was a genuine guy. Plus, my mom convinced me because she told me “you never know, it could be your husband!” 😂 We walked around the lakes and honestly I don’t even remember much of what we talked about! I just know we hit it off instantly. We ended up sitting by the lakes and talking until 9:00 that night. I got home and couldn’t stop smiling. My mom asked, “well, is he your husband?” to which I responded “I think he might be!” I was so sure of our connection that I cancelled another date I had planned later that week. And the rest is history! We continued to spend time together and our connection grew each time. It’s cheesy, but I never believed in love at first sight until I met Joey. I knew from the moment I met him that I had met the person I’d spend the rest of my life with ❤️
Joey created the absolute proposal of my DREAMS. I'll start the story by saying that I was SO sure I knew when he was going to propose, but he ended up completely catching me by surprise. The day started with me and our friend, Caroline, getting our nails done. She had asked me to go with her earlier in the week, and so I suspected Joey planned it to have my nails done in time for next weekend (when I thought he was going to propose). Long story short, our nail appointment ended up taking the entire afternoon. When I dropped Caroline off at her house, she insisted that I come inside to try on some clothes her friend had given her that were my size. I really didn't feel like it, but she convinced me, lol. I opened the door to her guest room to look at "the clothes" and I saw beautiful roses, my clothes laid out, and a handwritten letter from Joey. This would be the first of 4. Joey sent me on a scavenger hunt to various places that are special to us, and each spot had someone very important to us both there. The first stop was where we met, the LSU lakes; his sister Rachel and her boyfriend Tyler were there. Second, I went to Alex Box Stadium, where Joey and I enjoy watching LSU baseball; my mom and dad were there. Third, I went to Capital Park Museum, where Joey was working when we first met; his parents were there. Finally, I made it to my last stop, and Joey was there waiting for me. It was there that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! After the proposal, everyone that was a part of the proposal was there to celebrate our engagement with us. We met up with more of our family and friends for dinner that night to continue the celebrations. It was such a great day and like I said, he ended up completely catching me by surprise! The amount of thought and planning that Joey put into the proposal is a true testament to how much our relationship means to him. It was more than I could have ever hoped for, and I am so excited to begin our life together.
