Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Caitlin Gavin and Carl Downey
The Bay of Islands is a renown favourite spot for northlanders, with turquoise waters, an array of islands, and plenty to do and see. With its many beautiful beaches, don’t forget to pack your togs! And for the Aussies who need a bit of translation, that’s your ‘swimmers,’ ‘budgie smugglers,’ or ‘DTs’—depending on whether you’re feeling sporty, cheeky, or just really keen on a good tan line!

Bay of Islands Boat Cruise

There are plenty of different daily boat cruises. We highly recommend a day trip including the Hole in the Rock and Urapukapuka Island.

Omata Estate Vineyard & Kitchen

212 Aucks Road, Russell, Te Tai-tokerau 0272, New Zealand

Omata Estate is a stunning place to visit if you like a lunch with a view! Enjoy a cheeky vino or three with picturesque views of the bay of islands while enjoying a rustic wood fired pizza. They also have local craft beers, coffee, soft drinks, sangria jugs & much more! Bookings recommended!

Russell

Take a short ferry ride from Paihia to the charming and historic town of Russell. The bay is characterized by its stunning coastline, with crystal-clear waters and lush, green hillsides creating a serene and inviting atmosphere to explore. A must do is have a drink at the Duke of Marlborough which has been refreshing rascals and reprobates since 1827.

Tane Mahuta

For those wanting a trip slightly further afield, a must see in Northland is the majestic Waipoua Forest.

Waitangi

If you are after a bit of New Zealand culture, visit the Waitangi Treaty grounds to learn a bit about historic New Zealand and the Maori culture.
