Calaveras Big Trees State Park
Our wedding venue! See the giant sequoias by doing a short hike in the North Grove near our ceremony site or venture out for a longer hike in the South Grove. Short on time? Make sure to see the big stump near the visitor center.
Ironstone Vineyards
The town of Murphys nearby has many wineries, but this is one of our favorites!
Moaning Caverns Adventure Park
Gold miners first explored Moaning Caverns in the 1840’s and 1850’s. Today, visitors enter by descending a metal spiral staircase for cave tours and family adventure!
Lake Alpine
Beautiful lake for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming (if you're brave!). Lake Alpine Resort rents fishing boats, small motor boats, canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and has an on site restaurant and bar, serving beer and wine. Enjoy your eats and beverage on the deck overlooking beautiful Lake Alpine.
Mercer Caverns
A longer cave tour than Moaning Caverns. Still great for families! The cavern temperature is 55 degrees year-round. The tour covers about a quarter mile on walkways and stairs.
The Arnold Rim Trail
The easiest to access hike in town. Go out and back as far as you'd like. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a very popular area for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
Yosemite National Park
For those who would like to combine an iconic destination on their trip. Yosemite is located roughly two hours away.
