Our Love Story

In the hallowed halls of high school, our fates collided, his gaze finding me before mine met his. A silent enchantment took hold in his heart, love awakening with the simple acknowledgment of our existence. A year later, the script flipped as my role as the boys' swim team manager brought him into my field of vision. It was then that the currents of affection shifted, and the dance of love began. Our journey unfolded in the tender folds of time, dating for several months, but like a fleeting symphony, our connection encountered a momentary pause. I found myself not quite ready for the profound depths of his greatness and love. And so, we parted ways, choosing separate paths, yet a lingering camaraderie between us endured. For 11 years, we traversed the intricate tapestry of life as best friends, each thread weaving a story of shared laughter, confidences, and the unspoken understanding that somewhere, deep within, love was the silent orchestrator of our narrative. Then, as destiny gently turned its pages, the dynamic shifted. Our friendship transformed into a love so profound that it could only be described as a cosmic collision of souls. The years of separation only intensified the longing, and the universe conspired to bring us back into each other's arms. Since that celestial turning point, our lives have been an intertwined saga of shared dreams and whispered promises. From the initial glance in high school to the serendipitous reunion, our love story has blossomed into a symphony, echoing the depth of emotions that found their rhythm in the most unexpected of places.

Our Second First Date

November 2020

In the midst of the Covid pandemic, our journey into romance embarked on a unique tale. Eager to create a perfect evening, Tapley orchestrated an Uber to sweep us away. Little did we know that our chosen driver had a knack for awkward silences, turning the car into an unintentional arena of discomfort. I dared not even clear my throat in the midst of the palpable awkwardness. Arriving at Westport, our dreams of a cozy indoor dinner were dashed by a pandemic-induced reality. The November air was cold and wet, and most restaurants had closed their doors. Braving the elements, we settled into the only open establishment, our laughter providing warmth against the chill, even if I found myself shivering. Post-dinner, Tapley had meticulously preordered tickets for a comedy show. However, our anticipation was met with a closed venue, an inconvenient truth the website had failed to communicate. Frustration etched across his face, yet undeterred, we adapted to the unexpected twist. Summoning another Uber, we found ourselves in the company of a driver who seemed a kindred spirit to the first, thriving on the awkwardness of silence. Despite the unforeseen hiccups, we journeyed home, discovering that shared laughter could transcend even the most unforeseen challenges. Our first date may not have followed the script, but it unveiled the strength of our connection and our ability to cherish each other's company, no matter the circumstances.

The Proposal

10-16-2022

In the depths of our shared adventures, on my 31st birthday, my partner orchestrated a magical proposal within the echoing chambers of a cave. Our yearly tradition of exploring new caves took an unexpected turn as we were joined by nearly all our beloved family members, transforming the journey into a celebration of love and unity. Amidst the stalactites and shadows, my partner seized the fleeting moment, proposing with a ring that sparkled like the hidden gems within the cave. The tour guide's swift pace left some family members too far ahead, missing the pivotal scene, a memory that still stirs both joy and regret. Yet, the cave became a timeless symbol of our commitment, echoing with the whispers of a proposal witnessed by the stones themselves.
