7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Indian clothes or casual party wear
After a long day of traveling, we invite you to join us Thursday evening for appetizers, an Indian buffet, open bar, and dancing once you make it down to Westlake Village. The word “Sangeet “ means music, but when it is used as a term to describe a celebratory event during an Indian wedding it translates to Music Night or Musical party. This musical night is a celebration of the union of not only the couple but the bonding of both families. It's here that both sides bring down their barriers and mingle in a fun environment. This will be held at the Hyatt, downstairs by the elevator in the Vista Ballroom.
9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Indian outfits or comfortable formal attire (this is an outdoor ceremony, and we expect it to be warm).
Everyone is welcome to join our traditional Sikh wedding which will take place outdoors in the Tuscan Garden at the Westlake Village Inn. The ceremony will be held outside under canopies. Seating will be on the covered ground, This ceremony typically takes place within a Gurudwara, or Sikh temple, and everyone sits on the ground before the holy book together. We expect hot August weather for this outdoor ceremony. We welcome everyone to wear Indian outfits, but it's not necessary. Formal attire you'll be comfortable in is best. We do recommend against short skirts and shorts, and we ask that women bring dupattas or scarves in order to cover their heads. We'll be providing men's ramals, or head coverings. The day will begin with a Baraat, or festive procession of the groom and wedding guests to the bride. This will be followed by the Milni, or greeting of the families. Then we'll walk to the Tuscan Garden for the wedding ceremony, followed by lunch inside.
4:30 pm - 11:30 pm
Cocktail Attire
We'll be celebrating this second part of our wedding at Calamigos Ranch, with an outdoor non-denominational ceremony followed immediately by a cocktail hour and reception. This is about 15 minutes from Westlake Village Inn and the room block at the Hyatt, and we'll have shuttles available. The route to Calamigos is mountainous and windy, and we want everyone to have fun but be safe!
