Our story starts in our senior year of college when two of our best friends, Jeremiah and his wife Alyssa, had a plan. Alyssa FaceTimed Caitlin and told her that she had a man for her to meet. Little did Jagaar know, while Alyssa and Caitlin were actively talking on the phone, Jeremiah texted Jagaar and said, "I found your First Lady." Jagaar responded with two questions: "Does she love the Lord?" and "No way this girl is into me." Just a few short weeks later, Caitlin and Jagaar would meet in person in Jeremiah's room, sparking their love story. It took nine times of hanging out before Jagaar finally asked for Caitlin’s number, which our best friends still make fun of him for. We went on our first date to South Mountain to watch a sunset, one of Caitlin's favorite things to do, before heading to The Henry in Phoenix for dinner. This has turned into a special place for us, as we have only been back for our one-year anniversary and our engagement, with our favorite people. A few weeks later, Jagaar took Caitlin to Popstroke mini golf, where he switched Caitlin’s ball on the 18th hole to one that said, "Will you be my girlfriend?" Friends have always been a large part of both of our lives because, without them, we would have never met. Our top priority has been and will always be serving our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We have grown our faith and our love for each other heavily through spending time in God's word and attending Christ Church, where we both have been for over a year and a half. Our relationship grew deeper when we began serving in College Ministry, where we would serve our fellow college-aged students on Thursday nights. We continue to serve at Christ Church, and we love the community that the church has fostered in our lives. As we started dating, we knew we wanted to date for marriage. We grew spiritually and emotionally throughout the first nine months of our relationship, but what truly deepened our connection was when Caitlin studied abroad in Italy during the summer. It was then that we knew with certainty that we were each other’s person. While some people may struggle with long-distance relationships, ours only grew deeper. That summer, we began looking at engagement rings, but it was when Jagaar had a conversation with his roommates that everything clicked for him. Kaden Campbell and Shane Agan have been a huge part of Jagaar’s life, and one night, after talking to them about Caitlin, he knew he was going to propose. Kaden told Jagaar that he had “never seen anyone love each other the way you both love each other,” and Shane echoed that sentiment. As Jagaar, Kaden, and Shane live together, it is often joked that Caitlin has become the fourth roommate because of the time she spends with them. Caitlin has a remarkable ability to love anyone she meets, and that trait undoubtedly comes from her mother, Nicole. Caitlin is one of those people that, when you get a chance to know her, you know three things: she loves Jesus, she loves her friends, and she loves Jagaar. The people in our lives have only solidified that we have truly felt the presence of God's blessing over our relationship, and we cannot wait to marry each other. The only way to properly describe our relationship is love. Jeremiah and Alyssa knew exactly what they were doing that day in July, and we will forever be grateful to them, but ultimately to the Lord, for allowing us to love each other the way we do.
