I have to believe that Gamal & I were truly brought together by fate. There were so many times in our lives where we crossed paths, yet didn't realize it. We even attended schools that were across the street from each other when we were little. When I got older, I became friends with Daniel Oakey (Gamal's brother) through one of my bridesmaids, Mandy DeWell. Through this connection, I began to hang out with their group of friends, of which Gamal was part of. As the story goes, Gamal and I were introduced at some point, yet neither of us remember a formal introduction. Not sure what that that is about! The funny thing is in November 2014 there's a picture of Gamal and I standing next to each other, but not paying any attention to one another. The next thing you know it's May 2015...I was invited to Gamal & Michael's Birthday party. Of course, I brought both of them birthday crowns. When I arrived at the party my eyes immediately spotted Gamal. I walked up behind him and put the crown on his head. When he turned around, my heart stopped! I did NOT remember him being THIS HANDSOME. The rest of the night we were inseparable. He even bought me a bean & cheese burrito (that really sealed the deal). Even though he didn't get my number that night, he ended up getting it and asking me on a date for 2 days later. We had our first date June 2, 2015 and we haven't looked back since. I truly believe we weren't supposed to "meet" until this time. We had to go through life's ups and downs before we re-met and determined we were soulmates who unconditionally love one another.
After asking for my hand in marriage, Gamal proposed at my 27th birthday and master's graduation in front of all of our family and friends. It was the best day of our lives! It was so special and meaningful to share that day with everyone.
