How We Met

Like all great love stories, ours began … in a conference room.

We met at work, where fate (and a particularly tricky project) brought us together. While most people bond over coffee breaks or awkward icebreakers, we got to know each other over spreadsheets, shared deadlines and an unhealthy amount of email chains. Somewhere between problem-solving and politely disagreeing over bullet points, we realized we actually really liked working together - and not just in the “please CC me” kind of way. After the project wrapped we celebrated with a drink that turned into dinner, which turned into dessert, which turned into “Wait … do we like each other?”. Spoiler alert: we did. Since then, we’ve spent the past year laughing at and with each other, traveling the world, savoring good wine, and enjoying long walks in The Cove with our dog Charlie in tow. Here’s to taking on our next project together: Life in the Netherlands.

The Proposal

Anchors aweigh and nerves ahoy!

Eric had a plan - or at least, he was trying to have one. The debate in his head was endless: Morning coffee on the beach in Naples, with toes in the sand and sandpipers afoot? Or perhaps a romantic sunset, all golden light and gentle waves? But in the end, the perfect plan came to him - what better place than their happy place: a day out on the boat? With ring securely stowed (in a spot that even alluded Cait after she had conducted a full TSA pat down on him that morning), they set out on the water. The sun sparkled, the breeze was just right, and even the dolphins swam alongside. It should’ve been easy. Should’ve. Eric tried. Truly. Several times, he teed up The Moment - only to have the conversation drift in the wrong direction or the timing feel off. At one point, just as he started to find his words, a tour boat chugged past, its loudspeaker booming thoroughly stealing the spotlight. Refusing to let his big moment be upstaged, he adjusted course (literally). They dropped anchor in a quiet pocket of paradise. He asked. She said yes. And now they’re ready to celebrate!
