Devon and I met on March 4, 2020, a week before pandemic lockdowns. Caitlin's college roommate, Ashelyn, went to Devon's church and tried to set them up multiple times. Caitlin said "no" ... multiple times. While talking to Ashelyn on the phone after her court internship (eating Chick-fil-A in the Target parking lot as she often does), Caitlin finally agreed to have Ashelyn send Devon her number. They texted most of the night, but Caitlin accidentally ghosted Devon the next day (whoops). In her defense, Tuesdays were her busiest class days. On Wednesday (March 4), Caitlin went to her church handbell and choir practice, like any other week, leaving her roommate alone at their dorm. Devon texts Ashelyn that he just won a free pizza from Mellow Mushroom and wanted someone to share it with, so he comes over to hang out with her and her friend after making sure Caitlin wouldn't be there (after all, it would be very weird for the person she just ghosted to show up randomly at her dorm). Well, Caitlin's choir practice let out an hour early, and much to her surprise, there's Devon (the guy she had accidentally ghosted, full-beard and all) playing her Cards Against Humanity set in the floor of her dorm room (talk about awkward). They did not hit it off that night. However, Ashelyn pushed Caitlin to keep talking to him and invite him to her game night on Friday (kinda how she pushed her to give him her number). That's when they hit it off. After that Friday game night, Caitlin and Devon spent hours talking to each other, and had plenty of time to get to know one another during the lockdown. The rest is history!
