Our Story

A Letter from Caitlin

Danny and I met online, using the dating app Coffee Meets Bagel. I was initially skeptical of Danny's profile because he talked a lot about being in a band (Rule #1: Never Date a Dreamer), and he was only 24 (I was also 24, but an old 24, much too mature to be dating a young 24 year old). But his occupation was also listed as "Healthcare Consultant" which I decided I liked, and it seemed like we had similar interests, so I decided he was worth a shot. Danny asked me on our first date through the app -- a Sunday morning date, "going to the Hillwood Estate Museum followed by brunch". I googled the Hillwood Estate and was impressed, this was definitely the most interesting date I had ever been asked to go on. So I accepted, and felt genuinely excited to meet this person. Our first date went well, and our second date, a weekday "run followed by dinner", was shortly after. Then Danny went on a trip to Zion, and I on a trip to Maine with my family, and we texted each other with pictures and updates about our vacations. When we got back, and after a few more dates, we decided to make it official. Danny and I moved in to our first apartment together in the summer of 2017, adopted our beloved kitty Johnny Cash Henry-Goldberg in the winter of 2017, and closed on our first condo at the beginning of this year. Together we've changed jobs (and Danny got a Master's!), ran a marathon and trained for another, been on multiple vacations and dozens of weekend trips, and learned what it means to fall in love with the person you're meant to be with. We're so excited to keep learning and growing with each other for the rest of our lives, and can't wait to celebrate our commitment to each other with all of our family and friends at our wedding! ♥

How I Proposed

A Letter from Danny

Hi All, to get to the proposal day I have to talk about the lead-up to it.... It was the week of December 3, 2018 and I was travelling weekly for work to Minnesota. I had been working to get Caitlin's ring I had picked out for her in hand for the big day on December 15. What had made this procurement of the ring tricky was that we were heading on a vacation to Sedona, AZ December 6. With my schedule, the only way to ensure the ring was in hand for the big day was to get it shipped to a FedEx in Edina, MN. I snuck out of work to pick up the ring, hopped on a plane to AZ, and during our vacation secretly had the ring with me...I think Caitlin was suspicious because when we picked up our rental car the dealer asked if we were married and I jumbled my response... Evening of December 14, we meet with two of our closest friends for a drink (Bryan and Chelsea), me knowing very well what's happening the next morning. December 15, I get up early to make Caitlin breakfast, french toast. I tell her she needs to get ready because we're going somewhere. As soon as she asks what I'm wearing she's preparing for what's happening. We get to Hillwood Estate, the location of our first date, in the pouring rain. Months before I had coordinated with the estate and my dear friend Umar to stake out a spot there I was going to propose at. Umar had his camera in hand in the rain waiting to capture the moment. It was there I got on one knee and proposed to the woman I love more than anything in this world. After she said yes, we celebrated with an evening at the Hay Adams hotel in DC, part of a Christmas tradition we have been doing since we started dating. To Caitlin, thank you for your endless love and warmth. I have enjoyed every minute growing with you and can't wait to write the rest of our story together.

For all the days along the way
