Daniel and I met in 2019 at Mississippi State University. Daniel went to our sorority formal with my sorority big. That night, even with different dates, we were drawn to each other. Baby Shark came on at the pre-game (I know, kind of a weird college pre-game song), and Daniel knew every word. That's when I knew he was going to be special. We added each other on Snapchat, but after that night, we both went our separate ways. Time went on, and we both lived our separate lives, finishing school and starting new jobs, unaware of each other's whereabouts in life. Then one day, four years later, Daniel messaged me. I'm not going to lie, that little college sophomore in me was thrilled about it! From that moment on, we have never gone a day without speaking. Long distance was a scary thought, but doing it with Daniel was worth it. We knew early on that this was endgame; we were going to be together forever, no matter the amount of work that it took. Speaking of work, Daniel made the big move to Louisiana to be closer to me and truly give our relationship a go. Knowing how much of a family man he is, I could not be more thankful for the choice that he made. We have spent our time in Louisiana going on fun dates, eating lots of Mexican food, spending summers on the boat, taking multiple road trips back to Southaven, and going to countless Tulane baseball games (thanks, Jacob). And I am proud to say that we have turned him into a Louisiana man, one Lake Ponchartrain boat ride at a time. I was so scared to go through long distance, but Daniel never let me doubt it because he knew in his heart that this was going to work, and he was right (don't tell him I said that). All of our late-night phone calls and 5-hour drives back and forth show that if you put in the work, things truly do work out. Our story is not your typical college love story, but I would not have it any other way.
