Caitlin and Cole met a few months before they got together, through her brother David at the weekly taco nights he was hosting at the time. Caitlin was definitely interested first because Cole was in another relationship when they first met! A few weeks after that breakup, Caitlin slid into Cole's DM's and they went for tacos by themselves, at a restaurant a little nicer than the usual spot.

To set the scene: They were arriving at the Indianapolis airport to fly out and spend a long weekend in San Antonio with Caitlin's mom and stepdad. It was around 6:30 am, the shuttle from economy parking was running slowly, and Caitlin is experiencing some mild travel-related anxiety so she's running through a mental checklist of what they need to do once they arrive at the terminal. If Cole was acting weird, she had no idea. They got off the shuttle and Caitlin tries to rush inside but Cole stops her and pulls her aside. He grabbed her hand, struggled to get the ring box out of his pocket with the other and then once he knelt, he opened the ring box one-handed and upside down. Before he could even say anything, Caitlin interrupted him to point out the box was upside down and grabbed the ring to put it on. Cole got up and hugged his now-fiance and that's when she finally had the presence of mind to ask "This means you want to get married, right?" He obviously confirmed. She later learned that at least twenty of her closest family and friends were in on Cole's plan to propose for almost six months before it happened and they all kept it a secret.
