It started when Caitlin became Miss Rodeo Kentucky in 2018. She needed a pair of custom queen chaps to start off her year. A friend recommended she contactEd Stephens Custom Leather, a local leather worker to see if he would take on her chap design. Caitlin was all for using a local business and when she called Cody, he grudgingly said yes. Later, Caitlin found out that the last thing Cody wanted to make was a pair of queen chaps! After many phone calls, they finally met when he delivered her chaps. To celebrate, they went to Texas Road House before Cody left to work a PBR event. They soon became great friends. Cody eventually came to work for Caitlin and managed her training facility. When Caitlin's year as Miss Rodeo Kentucky came to an end, Cody made his move and asked Caitlin on a date. And the rest is history!

Caity and Cody’s first official vacation together! Seven days at the lake house in New York. They couldn't be more excited! They were supposed to attend a local rodeo the night before they left for vacation. Cody was riding Bareback (horse) and Caitlin was riding Indian (this was Indian’s very first time participating in barrel racing). Unfortunately, Cody broke his leg during the rodeo, getting hung up on a bareback horse! But rather than miss out on their vacation, Caitlin packed him up in her Honda Fit and drove 12 hours to New York. They spent the week boating and keeping Cody's leg elevated and enjoying time with Caitlin's family. On the last day of vacation, Cody managed to get down on one knee and propose in front of her father John Halliwell, her stepmom Lila Galindo, and her Aunt and Uncle Sandra and Dennis Halliwell.
