From Clay: In the spring of 2014, John Clote invited me to join him at Bar Louie in Kirkwood to have some beers with Mason Hutson and others. Coincidentally, Mason had also invited Caitlin to come to Bar Louie for $5 buckets of beer. When Caitlin walked in I was immediately drawn to her. Although I was only able to have limited conversation with her that night, I couldn't wait to get her number from Mason. Mason promptly gave Caitlin's number to me and wished me luck. Caitlin and I texted back and forth for a while until we were finally able to meet for a date. That night, we sat by my Dad's pool in Webster Groves for hours and hours talking and drinking way too many beers and even more wine. Caitlin and I spent that summer together that grew into a fall at Mizzou where I asked her to be my girlfriend on September 14, 2014. --- One day in 2014/15, Caitlin and I were in Webster driving past Emanuel preschool. As we drove by I mentioned that I went to preschool there. It turns out, so did Caitlin. I asked Caitlin if she remembered a boy who had a hand injury, which she did not. However, she did remember a boy named Clay that had staples in his head. Sure enough, and absolutely true to character, that was me.... Several weeks or months later, Caitlin found our preschool class photo. Against all odds, Caitlin and I were sitting next to each other with big smiles! Turns out we met in 1996!
