In early August of 2016, Chad moved back onto campus as Caitlin started her college career. Less than a month had passed at UNC Charlotte when Chad and Caitlin met and quickly began flirting. Catching eyes from across the room and choosing to sit next to each other was just the beginning. Chad realized he had a major crush, so he called Caitlin’s dad and eloquently asked for his permission to date his daughter. The crush quickly turned into a relationship and soon after, Chad and Caitlin became head over heels in love. As their love grew stronger over a few years, Chad decided he needed to ask Caitlin’s parents another serious question; he asked for permission to marry her, love her, and cherish her in marriage for all of time. After hearing Caitlin’s parents approval for her hand in marriage, Chad grew more joyous as the prospect of loving Caitlin for his entire life grew into a reality. On August 21st, 2019, Chad and Caitlin turned a random Wednesday into a cherished memory. Being engaged created more sparks of love which has led us to bring our two families together to celebrate this wonderful union we call marriage.

What started out as a last date night before school started, quickly turned into the best day of their lives. The night began with a dinner date and proceeded to getting ice cream for dessert. The weather was stormy, which to Caitlin's knowledge, wasn't that big of a deal. However, for Chad, this stormy weather was potentially going to ruin his perfect plan. He kept cool throughout the evening and was secretly hoping that the storms would clear up. While they were finishing up dinner and dessert, the skies cleared up and left behind what was one of the most beautiful sunsets they had seen. Chad then suggested that they find somewhere close by to watch the sunset. They drove to Lake Norman and parked at the same lake spot that they had gone to many times throughout college with friends. When they got out of the car and began walking up to the lakefront spot, Caitlin saw what was about to happen and couldn't help but burst into tears. They walked up to a pathway of candles, roses, and string lights, overlooking the beautiful sunset over the lake. Chad then got down on one knee and asked Caitlin to marry him, and she said yes!
