Like any other great love story starts, we met on the internet... no but really. Caitlin was on a friend's Snapchat and Cameron happened to message her. We hit it off right away and started talking non-stop. Our first ever live conversation was a seven hour long phone call where we instantly became close friends. The first time we met in person, we went on a walk and played Mario Kart. After that day, Cameron knew he wanted to be with Caitlin, but she was totally oblivious and we remained friends for months after.
After months of patience, and being turned down once or twice, Cameron decided to ask Caitlin out on an official date. We went to lunch, played board games, and saw a movie. This was the first of many dates before we started doing long distance in July of 2018. Caitlin went on her mission year and Cameron went off to college. We have been long distance since then and have had many highs and a few lows. If distance has taught us anything, it's that with communication, good humor, and God, we can make it through anything that comes our way.
Cameron has always been pretty lucky in terms of things working out for him, and this was definitely one of those things. Caitlin was coming to visit over Labor Day weekend and Cameron knew he wanted to propose this trip, he just didn’t know the right way to make it special yet. Caitlin, being the hiker and sunset lover she is, planned a scenic sunset hike and asked if they could take pictures when they got to the top (unknowing of Cameron’s plan to propose). Cameron now had his plan made and all he had to do was pop the question. It was the most tearful and beautiful sunset we have ever experienced.
We’re so grateful and blessed to be able to spend the rest of our lives together and to have you supporting us. We can’t wait to see what God has planned for our future!
