How We Met (and how we met again)

On June 21, 2021, Baylee and Cate were both flying for SkyWest—Baylee as a captain, Cate as a first officer. Based on reserve in Denver, they were called that evening to operate a delayed flight from Denver to Palm Springs, departing out of Gate A79, flight 5475 (fun fact- that info is on the Save the Dates!). Cate was thrilled. She thought she was finally flying with a female captain for the first time at Skywest. Little did she know, that captain was about to change her life—just not in the way she expected. After a very windy landing in Palm Springs, Baylee and Cate headed downtown. Baylee introduced Cate to a newfound love of truffle fries and shared some critical wisdom along the way— that you only get hangovers from beer when the bar doesn’t clean its taps properly. After a great trip together, they regretfully parted… as friends. Fast forward to November 2024. Cate was traveling with one of her best friends when she mistakenly thought she spotted Baylee in Florence (Baylee truly does have a doppelgänger). When Cate realized Baylee was actually at home in Denver, and only 30 minutes away from each other, they finally went on their first date. That night, Baylee introduced Cate to Palomas—yet another newfound love—and from then on (after he proved to be the best cat dad to Mellie and Wilbur), the rest was history! From there, they began traveling the world together. In February 2025, they journeyed to Antarctica to help Baylee cross off his seventh continent. Italy and Spain followed, to name a few, and in 2026 they made it all the way to Australia so Cate could cross off her own seventh continent. On December 13, 2025, Baylee proposed at their “special” tree in Castle Rock, surrounded by their closest friends—making it official that their greatest adventure was still ahead.
