UPDATES!

Due to rising Covid-19 cases, and other circumstances, we have decided to cancel our wedding celebration on September 6. We were looking forward to celebrating with you, but feel this is the safest call. Our wedding on June 20 was very special, and we were so happy so many of you joined us on that day. If you missed the June 20 stream, you can still watch... see below for link!

How we met

2001

We met in college at Eastern Mennonite University fall of 2001, when we were both in the Jazz band. Fast Forward 10 years, to EMU Homecoming 2011. We reconnected at an Alumni Jazz Band reunion. We sat together, and chatted most of the day. The next day, we went out to lunch. The next few months were full of emails and trips to see each other (we lived two hours apart). By January 2012, we were official. For the next 3 plus years, we traded off weekends in Harrisonburg, and Appomattox. We were thankful for video chatting, so we could see each other even during the week. In 2015 Andrew moved up to Harrisonburg. We get to see each other every day, in person, and it has been amazing!

How Andrew Proposed!

11.1.19

We decided to head to up to Shenandoah Mountain to my family's cabin for the weekend. We cooked dinner, had a fire in the fireplace, and played some of our favorite games. It was a lovely, and relaxing evening - just the two of us. We realized it was a clear evening on the mountain, a perfect night for stargazing. Andrew suggested we stay up to catch the end of the Orionid Meteor shower. We snuggled under blankets on the deck to catch the show. The stars were incredible - so many shooting stars, and the Milky Way was as clear as I've seen it. But being a clear night in the mountains, it was very cold! Andrew offered to get me a few extra blankets from inside. It took longer then it normally would have, but it didn't really faze me until after the fact why that was the case. He brought out the extra blankets, and sweetly tucked them around me. A few minutes passed, and even with the extra layers, I was still cold. I was ready to head in, but Andrew suggested we stay out to try and catch a few more meteors. A few more minutes passed... Then Andrew said he had something for me, something that would help warm me up! I turned my attention to him from the starry sky, to see him holding a little white box! He was right, it warmed me up, and I didn't fall asleep for hours. It was perfect! In addition to the amazing dinner, starry sky, and engagement, during the rest of our time in the mountains, we saw an owl, a couple of deer, and a bear!
