We both had just recently moved to Puerto Vallarta and were training at the same Crossfit gym - Bahia Crossfit. He normally trained in the mornings and I trained in the evenings, so we never crossed paths, until we did. We were the only two training that morning and started chatting about the torta (sandwich) I had eaten for breakfast while we were doing 200 meter sprints. After a few weeks of light flirting, I gave him my number, and his first text was asking me to dinner. June 4th 2016 was our first date, and we haven't been apart since.
Chichen Itza - one of the New Seven Wonders of the World - is home to sky-high pyramids, colossal temples, intricately carved columns and extensive plazas and sports grounds. Its much more than just a pile of rubble with an illustrious story, this exceptionally well-preserved city comes across as a living, breathing, thriving centre. An ancient city in the Yucatan of Mexico. On our way to vacation in Europe, we had one free day in Cancun while waiting for our flight to Madrid. So we decided to take advantage of being so close, and spend the day in Chichen Itza. On one of our first dates Ivan and I discussed it was in both of our plans to visit as many of the Seven Wonders of the World as we could, so we could not pass up the opportunity. We had a great tour around the grounds, and after 2 hours of walking and learning and really just taking in the power and beautify of this ancient city, the tour ended in front of the Castillo, or castle, the largest pyramid on the grounds. Our tour guide was finishing, told us we had one hour of free time before the bus leaves, and Ivan asked him to take our picture with the Castillo behind us. He took a few pictures and Ivan said, just one more. He dropped to his knee, took my hand and told me he loved me. He was so nervous he started putting on the ring without saying anything. By this time im crying and can't stop smiling, but I told him "you have to ask me baby" to which he replied "quieres estar conmigo para siempre" *Do you want to be with me forever* and of course I said "yes!" We cried and hugged and lots of people clapped for us (there were about 3,000 other visitors walking around the city). It was such a special place, and absolutely perfect for us!
Ivan got Molcajete, our brown and white husky, for me as an anniversary gift. He had never own pets before but I kept hinting how badly I missed my Ava Maria and how great it would be to have a dog around the house, etc. Well, a few days before our anniversary, I was stopped by our gym to drop off something for Ivan, and there was a tiny ball of fur waiting for me! He has been such a great addition to our family. Adeline, our little blackie, found us. We were on a camping trip to celebrate the new year, and on our way home we stoped at a friends bar to have dinner. Little ada came up and was playing with Molcajete so well, it seemed like they had grown up together. She was very sweet and cuddly, and we asked around if she belonged to anyone. Everyone at the bar told us she was a street dog always begging for food. So Ivan and I looked at each other, shrugged our shoulders, and opened the car door. She hoped right in like she knew she belonged with us, and we drove home, starting 2018 by expanding our family. Chiante, our cat queen, came to us just a few weeks after the devastating loss of our Gatita. A friends son had found her on the street, but couldn't keep her and was looking for a home. We had just lost our cat, and immediately offered to take her in. She's sassy, keeps the dogs in line, and only likes to be bothered on her terms.
