How do you describe that feeling when someone walks up behind you putting their arms around your shoulders, suddenly everything in the world goes silent and you feel home. The funny thing is you can't, it just felt right and that is where this once in a lifetime love story began. When Cain's mom said, "Why don't you two go upstairs to watch a movie?", no one in that moment was going to say no. Sitting on Cain's waiting room couch, and when I say it was small you could only fit one and half people on it. We spent about 15 minutes trying to find a movie. Without knowing it, Cain was about to find out Kristina had a secret love for Patrick Swayze and the movie Road House, because who doesn't love a classic. I think in that moment we both realized pretty quickly that it was going to be unlike any relationship either one had experienced before. We started to bond over everything. Watching football on Sundays, cheering on our favorite teams, sitting side by side, celebrating every win like it was our own. Weather it was football, baseball, or hockey. It brought the best out of each of us. We realized that we spoke the same language in music and sports. Even if we both felt that we had questionable choices in music and that our favorite football teams were division rivals. Panthers Vs Saints is always a great competition. Cain converting Kristina into a San Jose Sharks fan and learning that hockey games are much more fun live. The only sport we realized we couldn't disagree on was our love for the Yankees. We found out quickly that enjoying a late-night concert, singing along to random country songs or banging our heads to a random rock band because one of us didn't know any of the words. These moments have turned into shared playlist which has evolved into long talks. Culminating in something neither of us expected, a love that will last a lifetime. We embarked on an adventure to Buffalo for a concert, spending the entire weekend together. We took a trip up to Niagara Falls, walking around experiencing this place together for the first time. Talking and laughing, walking along the water. A simple turn around to Cain a saying I have a quick question to ask you. With a knee on the ground, Cain, a man of few words, asked simply "Will you Marry Me?". YES Growing in our relationship with God has taught us both that we are here because he chose long ago that we were meant to find each other at the right time in life. And we were meant to grow together as partners and friends. We have found comfort in Praying together, in trusting that God had a plan bigger than either of us could see. On the hard days we have learned to lean into faith, and on our good days we give thanks. It has grounded us and guided us and reminded us this is why we work together. A love built on shared passions, endless laughter and the belief that we are exactly where we are meant to be with each other and with God at the center of it all.
