Cailyn and Matt met over eight years ago in high school. At the time, she was a junior and he was a senior — attending different schools. They went to Matt’s senior prom together and began dating shortly after, in 2017. Just two months later, Cailyn moved to Minnesota with her family, marking the start of their long-distance journey. For the next five years, they lived in separate states — Matt in Illinois and Cailyn attending the University of Iowa. Despite the distance, they visited each other every other weekend and never let it stand in the way of their relationship. After Cailyn graduated, they were finally able to move in together in the suburbs of Chicago. Then, in December 2024, they took a trip to Park City, Utah — where Matt had been secretly planning a proposal for months. On 12.12.24, with the stunning Utah mountains as a backdrop, Matt asked Cailyn to marry him. Their parents were there to celebrate the special moment with them.
