We both met in January of 2020. Jacob was leading a volunteer trip through Mizzou Alternative Breaks that winter break to Atlanta, Georgia. I had signed up to volunteer but was not originally chosen to go on the trip. Right before Mizzou went on winter break, I was asked last minute to replace someone else's spot that had dropped out. I gladly accepted the invite! In January 2020 we headed out on the week long trip to help an equine therapeutic riding center! During that week, we were split into groups to help prepare dinners each night. We were paired together and decided to make hamburgers! While we were cooking, I taught Jacob how to tell how a burger was done (Texas Roadhouse came in handy haha). We were stuck outside for about an hour grilling and had a song on repeat over and over. That song was "Burn together." We really bonded during this time together. Once the trip was over we had the 9 hour car drive home. Jacob drove the first couple hours then sat in the back of the car with me the whole way home. We talked the entire drive about life. We came to realize that we had a lot in common! A couple days later Mizzou was back for that spring semester. Our volunteer group all decided to hangout at one of their apartments. Jacob and I hung out a lot during the night and the next morning Jacob drove me home and asked me out on a date! I said yes! Our first date was at The Heidelberg. We had such a good time! The rest is history. We started dating February 3rd, 2020. Then a month later COVID hit! We then went on a spontaneous trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama because Luke and Hailey were down their on their spring break! We spent a few days down there and had a blast. In July, during his first semester of PT school, Jacob adopted Milo!! Jacob was in online classes because of COVID so it really was a great time to adopt a puppy. He was and still is a handful but we love him to pieces! In August of that year I was invited on their family vacation to Branson, MO. We celebrated 6 months of dating! School started again that fall at Mizzou. All classes were still online so we spent a lot of time together. January of 2021 we went to Colorado Springs with a bunch of friends. We drove to the peak of Pikes Peak and went hiking a ton. In March of that year we also went to PCB on spring break! That was the best trip with the best people. In May of that year, we went on another family vacation to the Tetons and Yellowstone. Many adventures later, we decided to move in together in fall of 2023!! In December of 2024, Jacob finally popped the question and I of course said YES!! I was beyond thrilled to continue our lives together and take the next step. Then all of the fun wedding planning began! (stressssss) We decided in spring of 2025 that we wanted to buy a house. I know why would we add even more stress to our plate! We love chaos!! We found the perfect home for us and closed on it in June and moved in July! We absolutely love our first home and being able to make it our own. Most recently in December we adopted a new family member. He is a Golden Retriever and we named him Kodi. Jacob insists its after the Mizzou football player but how I came about the name is a different story. We love the life we have made together and the little family we have created. We cannot wait to see what the future holds.
