Joshua and Cailin both grew up in Southwest Virginia where they had mutual friends and had likely unknowingly met each other a few times on different occasions. Josh and Cailin had just come back to the area after some time away and were ready to start over. So, they did what any single 20 something would do and downloaded a dating app. Needless to say the two swiped right & the rest is history. The night of their first date Cailin kept pushing the time back and they wouldn’t end up meeting up until almost midnight that night. They finally met up at the only open restaurant they could think of and stayed until last call getting to know each other. Cailin remembers how quirky and cute Josh was despite his tough guy demeanor and loved how even though she kept changing the time, he was determined to meet her that night. Josh remembers Cailin’s welcoming, but nervous, smile but could “just tell” she was a genuinely good person by the warmth her personality gave off. Cailin had never been on a date with someone she had met off a dating site so she was definitely nervous and supposedly gave Josh a very awkward hug at the end of the night. It’s a miracle Josh even asked her out again after that! Nonetheless, the two spent the whole following weekend together going to a country music concert followed by a weekend at the lake. After that weekend, the two were inseperable. They quickly bonded over their love of live music, especially country music, and how they shared a similar goofy sense of humor. The two shared their first kiss that weekend, (where Cailin kissed Josh,) front row of a Randy Houser concert. It was definitely magic from the start, but the two kept realizing how much they connected on such a deep level. Josh says Cailin usually knows what he’s thinking before he gets the chance to say it. Their love for one another is one that only they can truly understand or explain. It’s the kind of love you share when you have truly met the person your soul loves.

Josh and Cailin got engaged in their absolute favorite place; over looking the mountains in Gatlinburg, Tennesse. They went to celebrate their one year anniversary and had no idea they would leave engaged. They had jokingly talked about eloping while they were there and not telling anyone but soon realized they needed their birth certificates to elope. The next day the two went to the outlet malls where Josh wanted Cailin to look at rings with him. When they got back to the cabin Josh called his parents to tell them they would be getting a daughter in law. Then Josh video called Cailin’s dad, Tom, and asked his permission. He excitedly said yes. Josh proposed to her with the ring later that evening with their dog Willow by his side. Of course, she said yes! Cailin immediately FaceTimed her mom and shared the news. They wished their family could’ve been there to share the excitement but due to the pandemic it was an intimate engagement.
