Alan and I met about 11 years ago… or, well, Alan met me 11 years ago. I, on the other hand, have absolutely no memory of this first encounter. In my defense, I was at a birthday party celebrating two other friends, completely unaware that the birthday boy himself would one day be my husband. To this day, Alan never lets me live it down—it’s probably the longest-standing joke in our relationship! A couple of weeks (and one properly memorable introduction) later, we hit it off as friends. From dinners to road trips, we became inseparable. We had the kind of friendship that felt easy, like we had known each other forever. But the universe had bigger plans. Five years into our friendship, we found ourselves on a trip to Mexico with friends, and suddenly, something shifted. It was my aha moment—like, How have I not seen this before? It’s always been him. From that moment on, there was no turning back. Falling in love with my best friend was the easiest, funniest, and most natural thing in the world. Of course, our transition from “just friends” to definitely more than friends was… entertaining. When we started telling people, the general reaction was confusion, shock, and “Wait… why are you two suddenly kissing on the dance floor?” But there was also a lot of “Finally, you both see it!” And just like that, by New Year’s 2020, we made it official. Four years later, Alan proposed in the very same spot in Mexico where I first realized I loved him. And now, here we are—about to say “I do” in front of the people who have been a part of our journey from the start. We cannot wait to celebrate the best day of our lives with all of you!
