The Strip is great for a weekend morning local market scene. This is a good place to find Pittsburgh gear, fresh local produce and unique housewares or artisanal goods. There are also many delicious restaurants! We love: DiAnoia's, Kelly O's, Pamela's, DeLuca's, Primanti's, Roland's Seafood, Cioppino, and the Smallman Galley.
It is definitely worth it to check out Point State Park and walk around the point where the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers converge to make the Ohio. We also recommend a few restaurants and bars downtown: Sienna Mercato, Condado, Chinatown Inn, Cityworks, Nola on the Square, Bluebird Kitchen, Il Pizzaiolo, tako, Meat and Potatoes, Nicky's Thai Kitchen, and Sharp Edge Bistro.
The North Shore houses PNC Park, Heinz Field, and Rivers Casino. A few interesting sites on the North Shore include Randyland and the Mattress Factory. There are some nice Riverwalk trails on that side of the Allegheny as well. Coming from downtown, it is fun to walk across the iconic yellow Roberto Clemente Bridge. There are many bars and restaurants to try in this area: Burgatory, Southern Tier Brewery, The Foundry, McFadden's, Hyde Park Prime Steak House, Tequila Cowboy, and Federal Galley.
There are a lot of local breweries. These are our favorites: Grist House, Hitchhiker, Dancing Gnome, Allegheny City Brewing, Penn Brewery, Cinderlands Foderhouse, Strange Roots, Voodoo Brewing, 412 Brewery, and Arsenal Cider House. A little outside of the city you can find Spoonwood Brewing Co. and Auroch's Brewery, for all gluten free beer. A special mention goes to Wigle Whiskey.
