Yes! There will be shuttles to and from The Andell, The Sanctuary, Windswept Villas and East Beach Village. If not staying at these locations but nearby, feel free to drive to the pickup locations to catch the shuttle and pick up your car later that night or the next day. Also, if renting through the Kiawah Island Resort directly, shuttle services are also provided on a first-come, first-serve basis throughout your stay. You will just need to call in advance to confirm your pick up time.
Because of limited Ubers once on Kiawah, we suggest renting a car from the airport or scheduling a private car service.
Because Kiawah is a secluded area, and partially gated, Uber and Lyfts are very limited and usually unavailable.
Yes! While your phone may say Johns Island, you are in the correct spot. You drive through Johns to get to Kiawah, so it often shows up for addresses.
If staying on the island, your rental home or villa should provide instructions on how to pick up your gate pass(es). Depending on the location of your rental, your pass will allow you through one or both gates. If staying off the island (i.e. The Andell), you can often tell the first set of guards that you are headed to golf or eat somewhere on the island or going to visit The Sanctuary. When going through the second gate, you can tell them you are headed to the Ryder Cup Bar or Atlantic Room at the Ocean Course. If the day of the wedding, you can always tell them that’s where you are headed!
The Ocean Course is located on the far northeast end of the island. Because roads are often surrounded by marsh and wildlife, the drive is longer than you think. As a point of reference, The Sanctuary Hotel is a fairly central location on the island and is approximately 20 minutes from the Ocean Course. Please be sure to calculate your travel time for all events to ensure a prompt start time.
Yes and no! The 13.44 mi²- island is great to explore on bike, but it is important to keep in mind that while a "small" island, things are farther away than they may seem. Roads are often winding and surrounded by marsh, making travel time longer. Please keep this in mind when traveling to wedding events.
For a fully-stocked grocery store, visit Harris Teeter in Freshfields Village. For last-minute items, head to the Town Center Market at East Beach where you'll find your essentials as well as a quick, casual spot for dine-in or takeout breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Charleston International Airport is approximately 50 minutes from Kiawah.
It all depends on what works best for you! The Andell Inn is located outside of the resort gates in Freshfields Village, making it farther away from events, but in a great location to walk to restaurants and shops. The Sanctuary Hotel is within the resort gates and a very central location for events. Both hotels are great options if traveling as a couple! If traveling with a large group or family, we suggest a villa or home rental.
