FAQs

Question

Do I participate in communion if I'm not Catholic?

Answer

Thank you so much for asking! The short answer is no, you will be asked to abstain from receiving the eucharist during the wedding. In the Catholic Church, we firmly believe the teaching that the hosts are consecrated through what is called "transubstantiation". During this, the host truly becomes the true body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ himself. To avoid accidentally defiling the body of Christ or having someone who just doesn't believe what the Church teaches receive and then not know what to do, we just ask that you come to the alter with your arms crossed over your chest (in an X shape) to receive a blessing from the priest instead. Alternatively, you can also stay seated in your pew! We appreciate your understanding in the importance of this sacrament!

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Upscale Casual / Wildflower Chic: Be mindful of May showers! For the ladies, think fancy midi/maxi sundresses. Shawls and knit cardigans to cover shoulders and chest during the ceremony are appreciated (and required!) to maintain modesty. For the men, linens or khakis, fun short sleeve or long sleeve button-downs, patterned ties / bow ties. Full suits and ties are optional. Bright colors, florals, and breezy fabrics are encouraged for our early summer celebration! Let's keep it polished and heat friendly! While comfort is key, please no shorts, jeans, or overly casual attire. This is a full wedding mass in the church, please dress accordingly. Thank you!

Question

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Answer

You're not alone! The bride has severe celiac and a dairy allergy, so all the food will be allergy friendly! There will be something for everyone. Food items will be labeled if they contain dairy!
