It was Christmas Eve 2020 and we were getting the ham cooking in the crock-pot for Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, we bought a huge ham and well as you can probably guess by now, it didn't fit.. Well no worries here, because google is your best friend! I found a link saying to just put foil over it and that would solve the issue! Matthew listened to me without reading the article, or let alone seeing what source it was from. Fast forward to Christmas morning and Matt is waking me up yelling frantically about how the HAM is RUINED! IT'S RUINED AND CHRISTMAS IS RUINED! We made phone calls to everyone in the family asking if they had a ham they could cook up and bring to the Christmas dinner. I was super confused as to why the ham was so important, but to Matthew it was and so now constituted an emergency on my part as well. We found a family member (thanks Vera) who was able to fill Matt's request and brought us a beautifully cooked ham over for dinner. Matthew was now RELIEVED and I could relax! After dinner, we all gathered into the living room for our annual Christmas games held every year by Matt's jolly mother, Carla. What I didn't know, was that Matt and Carla had been working together to RIG THE FIRST GAME! Everyone pulled a # out of a box and it just so happened that Matt's number was the winner! He went over to the gift table to select his prize. I was so excited that we had already won a gift! He picked out this cute wrapped box with a bow on top and came over to me and asked if I wanted to open it. OF COURSE I DO!! Once I saw the ring box, he got on one knee and my heart was jumping for joy! I had always imagined this happening, but never knew how happy I would truly feel in that moment! I had tears of joy as Matt asked me to marry him, and I could not wait to say YES! PUT THE RING ON! The family cheered and congratulated us as we celebrated our engagement. I realized a few moments later, that I had almost ruined our engagement dinner by burning the ham.
