We’ve technically known each other since second grade, but it wasn’t until high school that our paths really crossed. We started hanging out on the weekends with a group of friends, and somewhere between late-night laughs and shared snacks, we started noticing each other a little differently. At first, Emily didn’t see Caden “like that”—but that didn’t last long. A few months (and a few flirtatious hangouts) later, feelings started to grow, and things started to feel… different—in the best way. On April 21, 2018, while walking along beautiful Wailea Beach, Caden asked Emily to be his girlfriend. It was sweet, simple, and the start of something amazing. After six years of dating, Caden planned the perfect surprise proposal—cleverly disguised as a casual dinner date. He told Emily they had reservations at Ruth’s Chris and suggested they take a scenic drive through Big Cottonwood Canyon to enjoy the fall leaves. As they wandered through the trees, Emily asked, “Are we going to see anything, or is this just a pretty spot?” to which Caden casually replied, “I don’t know.” Then Caden spotted a guy with cameras (knowing this was the photographer he booked to capture the proposal) and told Emily, “Let’s ask him to take our picture!” Emily, horrified, protested—"We can't just ask a photographer to take a free photo of us!” insisting they just take a selfie instead. But Caden gently pushed back and eventually got the okay to ask. Emily embarrassingly came over to have this photographer capture what she thought would be just a casual picture on her iPhone, to which Caden dropped down onto one knee. And then—it happened. 💍 We have now officially been together for over seven years and have been happily engaged since October of last year. We have created our own family, as we are now "dog parents", to two mini-goldendoodles, Addie and Ozzy. As it stands now, we could not be more ready to marry each other and begin this next chapter of our lives side by side. We’re so excited to finally celebrate our next step in life with all of you!
