Cade and Grace met working as RA's at Western Michigan University. Grace was always asking in the staff group chat for someone to switch desk shifts with her so she could attend a play rehearsal. Cade, having the shift right after hers, would often volunteer to trade. One night, when they went to trade off shifts, Cade stayed and talked to Grace. After about 15 minutes he said good night and went up to his room. 10 minutes later he came back down and he and Grace talked for 2 hours. After that they both felt that there was something there, and started spending more time together. And by May 27th, they were officially dating!

Cade proposed in the park where they had their official first date, Milham Park in Portage Michigan. Cade had spent the weeks leading up to the proposal planning with Grace's best friend and maid of honor, Ellie. Ellie had reached out to Grace asking about having a double date and suggested a picnic in the park, luckily Grace wasn't completely sure what the name of the park where they had their first date was, so her suspicions that this would be more than a double date subsided. The morning of the proposal, Cade and Grace went to church with Grace's Parents. Cade had to tape the ring box on his back as it was the best spot to hide it. Grace even hit it a couple times that morning without knowing. After the service, Cade found a clean coffee cup and slipped the ring box into it to avoid Grace hitting it again. Grace's parents dropped them off at Milham park, and once they got out of the car and started walking to where they were supposed to meet Ellie and her husband, Grace recognized the park and said "didn't we have our first date here?" Shortly after Grace spotted a blanket setup with some pictures and soon realized they weren't only on a double date. Cade got on one knee, Grace said "yes!" and on May 24th, 2024 they will become husband and wife! They can't wait to celebrate with you!
