Our Story

Appalachian State University 2011

We could write a novel about our decade long romance but we'll keep it short for now. We met at Freshman orientation at Appalachian State University in January of 2011. We were in the same orientation group and come to find out years later we both saw each other at first glance and simply thought to ourselves "he/she is pretty cute". We got to know each other that day as well as in a math course which Erin say's was difficult but Nick say's was easy - fun fact, pretty sure I've (Erin) never used any of that math to this day. Fast forward to a year later where we both worked at the same restaurant in Blowing Rock - Canyon's. Looking back, this is probably where our love for each other really blossomed and it's a lot like that Rihanna song "we found love in a hopeless place". The place was known for the view, not the food and we bonded over many shared Sunday jazz brunches hungover and torturous questions like "where did all the leaves go" , "do you have the trout sandwich", and the ultimate favorite "how long a wait for a deck table"? We spent roughly 3 years working together there and our relationship was strictly platonic (for the most part other than occasional friendly flirting) until one day it just clicked... Our friendly flirting turned into serious flirting, which then turned into Monday night wing nights together on a weekly basis with our Canyon's crew, to meeting up "accidentally" at the same bar or party, etc. Fast forward to many moons later, a few different apartments in different cities together, and a small zoo of pets added to our fur family and our love has only gotten stronger and stronger with each passing day. Our love story is what I think they call a slow burning kinda love and we've gotten a lot of "so whats next" , "when are you guys going to settle down" , and a personal favorite "you sure you want the same things?" But looking back we wouldn't change anything and we absolutely do want the same things in life. We are both thankful and grateful to have had the opportunity to grow up together and both evolve individually and together with the support of one another through the last decade. The gravitation to one another and how our love evolved has been so natural and we consider ourselves lucky to have had our story write itself the way it has. Well, we said we were going to keep it short...guess summarizing this burning love we have is harder than expected lol. Cheers to us and our happily ever after <3
