Wedding Update

Third Times the Charm!

Nick and I have decided we just can't wait until next year... We will be getting married in my parents backyard in October! Due to COVID we are having a small ceremony but hope you will celebrate and join us virtually!

How We Met

Liquid courage + Christmas lights

If you know Nick then you know he has two brothers - Nathan and Noah. Alexa and Nick had been around each other to varying degrees over the years, thanks to her friendship with Nathan, but it wasn't until one cold October night in Lexington, KY that they actually connected. Thanks to some liquid courage, Alexa asked Nick to dance and they spent the evening dancing and enjoying a night out with friends. After their night out, Alexa finagled getting Nick's number and he offered to take her to see Christmas lights. Fast forward a few weeks to Christmas break and they had their first date at the Mega Cavern to see the Lights Under Louisville. If you know Alexa, then you know Christmas lights are HER thing - this first date pretty much sealed the deal.

The Proposal

He cried, she laughed.

I never knew how Nick would propose. We had talked about getting engaged/married, we had looked at rings and we had a big year. We were going to Spain, had a photoshoot, weddings, and a handful of other events where he *could* pop the question. Each one of the instances passed and no proposal. I was hounding him constantly but once Octoer hit, I had all but given up. It wasn't going to happen, maybe next year. A little irony - when buying our house became official, one of my best friends (hey Melanie) said she thought Nick would propose shortly after moving in. Well, *no one knows Nick like I do* and I had my mind made up it would be around/at Christmas time (see previous story for why.) So, at 3PM on closing day, I was telling my coworkers, adamently, that he will NOT be proposing.... After closing, Nick proposed on the front porch of our first and new house - he got down on one knee, just us two, with the most beautiful ring in the world. He cried, I laughed (due to utter surprise and shock). He made the moment intimate and so special - making our first house into our first home and creating the first of many memories to come!

For all the days along the way
